If your Symbol Portable Bar Code Reader displays an error code 2 the following steps will resolve this issue.

Error (Code 2)

Press FUNC followed by *. The Symbol Technology P460 screen should appear.
Press FUNC followed by BK as soon as the screen shows "Symbol Technology Phaser P460". Note: You must do step 2 while the screen shows "Symbol Technology Phaser P460". If you wait until the screen switches back to scan mode you will not get to step 3.
The screen should now say "P460 Setup". If the screen does not say "P460 Setup" go back to step 1 and start over. At the P460 Setup screen: Press the down arrow key until "Erase File" is displayed in the menu.
Press the ENTER key to display A-H codes.
Press MODE followed by the 7 key twice.
Press the ENTER key to delete B code.
The unit will then return to the Symbols Technology P460 screen and then to a scan screen. If this occurs the problem is solved and you are done.
If the unit does not display the correct screen, press the combination of FUNC followed by BK repeatedly until the Symbols Technology P460 screen appears.
After the Symbols Technology P460 screen appears place the unit into the cradle and wait for scanning mode.
